Briefly: .Mac SDK 1.0.3, retail loss prevention, more

Apple recently provided developers with Version 1.0.3 of its .Mac SDK, which enables them to build app features that take advantage of the .Mac service without having to write in any network code. Also: notes on retail loss prevention, iPod-strapped resellers, multiple-part service repairs, and future Apple store sites.

Where art thou iPod?

Apple's music player is the hottest holiday gift for a second year in a row, and like last year it's getting harder and harder to find an iPod as December 25th nears. The WSJ reported that iPods are in short supply across all retailers, and sources inside Apple's retail operations confirm that supply is no better on that front, either.
